KNBC reported on this earlier.

Barbarita Nunez was just doing her job, sorting clothes, at the Veteran’s Thrift Store in Pomona, CA when she found a surprise.

In a box of donated clothes the thrift store employee found an envlope filled with  30,000 dollars. At first she thought it was play money, but just to be safe she turned in the money to her supervisor.

It turns out the money belonged to a woman who had recently died. The money was returned to the  family, and in exchange the gave Nunez a cash reward.

Nunez said she would send some of the reward money to Mexico so her mother can have an eye operation. She hopes to use the rest to buy a digital camera.

It is extremely encouraging to know that there are still honest people living in The United States. Sure could serve as an excellent example for our politicians, although I think that is a lost cause. As a retired Peace Officer, who has seen more than my share of less than honest people, I especcialy commend Miss Nunez. No matter what the reward, I am sure she sleeps well knowing that she took the correct steps.
